What reading books should my child read?
Parents often ask me what their children should be reading for the 11+. The simple answer is difficult books. If your child is reading and they haven't asked what a new word means all week, that book is too easy for them. Perhaps it is an enjoyable book, an entertaining book, valuable to their life in other ways, but it won't help them pass the 11+.
The vocabulary requirements are advanced (e.g. countenance, imperious, fastidious).
Typically the recommended 11+ reading is split into two categories:
Classics
Modern Fiction

Children will also be working with poetry, classic and modern, in the exams.
